Mourinho pushes Man Utd to prise Dier from Spurs

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho wants to see a deal for Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier closed.

Mourinho is keen to splash the cash this summer as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging in the Premier League and the Champions League.

And after signing Victor Lindelof from Benfica earlier this week, the Portuguese boss is targeting further defensive reinforcements.

Dier is said to be his preferred choice with the England international capable of playing in midfield and at centre-back.

However, any attempts to lure him away from north London will cost United £50m, says the Telegraph.

Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy are keen to keep hold of the 23-year-old.

Dier only signed a new long-term deal with Spurs in September that keeps him at the club until 2021.
