Mourinho on Man Utd star Pogba: Two days ago he was the worst, now he is phenomenal…

Jose Mourinho indicated on Thursday night that perhaps the media are a little fickle towards Manchester United's Paul Pogba.

The French midfielder, who returned to the club from Juventus in the summer, scored a brace as United defeated Fenerbahce 4-1 in the Europa League.

Pogba's performance, aside from the goals, was much improved on his recent outings for the Red Devils but not so different for Mourinho who hinted that the media have been hard on him.

He told BT Sport: "Two days ago he was the worst player in the Premier League and 48 hours later he is phenomenal!

"He needs time. I was in Italy, I played in Italy, I know Italian football, the characteristics, the pace and intensity, and to be in Italy for 4 or 5 years, then come to the Premier League, I'm not expecting a click of fingers to get that intensity.

"Even the top players need time, I'm happy with the performance."

Pogba's double takes his scoring tally with United to three in 10 appearances in all competitions.
