Romelu Lukaku hit a brace as Manchester United defeated Huddersfield Town 2-0 in their FA Cup tie.
United overcame the video assistant referee's controversial intervention and reached the FA Cup quarter-finals thanks to Lukaku's brace.
While the decision to utilise technology and aid officials has been widely embraced, the trial period has not been without its hiccups in the English game and beyond.
The teething troubles continued as Juan Mata saw an effort cancelled out for the narrowest of offsides - with some strangely skewed lines superimposed on the screen - but Lukaku goals early in each half ensured United progressed with a fifth-round victory.
United boss Jose Mourinho said: "We knew that it would be difficult. It was hard but we started really well. With that second goal in the second half I think we killed the game and from that moment we were in control.
"Good counter-attacks, twice attacking the space well. Twice cold in front of the keeper, good decisions, good shots, good goals, important goals from us."
