Manchester United are set to appoint Paul Mitchell as their new sporting director.
But manager Jose Mourinho will still have the final say on transfers, according to The Sun.
United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will restructure the recruitment team under one director of football.
Along with Mitchell, strong candidates for the role are FA's Dan Ashworth, former United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar from Ajax and Monchi from Roma.
Mitchell gained respect as one of the world's top sporting directors after his successful work at MK Dons, Southampton, Tottenham and RB Leipzig – where he is currently appointed.
