Mourinho delighted with Man Utd win: We played as if careers depended on it

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was pleased with victory over Tottenham on Saturday.

Anthony Martial came off the bench to hit the winner inside the final ten minutes.

After the 1-0 win, Mourinho said: "I liked the performance. Whether it was 1-0, 0-0 or 1-1, my feelings about the players would be the same because they gave everything.

"Every ball was like the most important ball of their career, the concentration was there, the fight was there and we cannot forget the quality of the team we were playing against."

On Martial, Mourinho said: "I wanted him to replace Marcus (Rashford), do to the same as him. He can do better between the lines and I also wanted him to work off Lukaku.

"He was facing three very good central defenders, but three defenders who had had a hard match for 60-70 minutes. Okay, the shot was lucky, but the movement was good and the quality was good and it gave us two extra points."
