Mourinho defends Chelsea tactics in Liverpool win

Jose Mourinho believes his Chelsea team did everything they could to win in Sunday's clash with Liverpool at Anfield.

The Blues were deployed with a defensive mindset in a bid to break down the Premier League leaders and it worked a treat as Mourinho's men came away with a 2-0 triumph.

With criticism likely to be directed at Mourinho for the way his players went about it, he simply stated that Chelsea came to Liverpool to win and did what they had to, to achieve the required result.

"It was about winning. We deserved to win, no doubt about it. It's as simple as this," he told Sky Sports.

"With the result at 1-0 for 45 minutes, we were always comfortable. We were never in trouble against a team that is a fantastic team, a team that has beautiful players and scores a lot of goals and smashes every team that comes here."

Dema Ba opened the scoring for the Blues on the stroke of half-time when he pounced on a slip by Reds skipper Steven Gerrard before slotting past Simon Mignolet prior to Willian's injury-time second which came courtesy of a one-two with Fernando Torres before the Brazilian finished from close range.

Second-placed Chelsea now sit two points behind Liverpool with two fixtures remaining and are just one point ahead of Manchester City who have a game in hand.
