Mourinho casts wide net to find Man Utd Ibrahimovic replacement

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is ready to spend big this summer to replace crocked striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Daily Star says Mourinho had been banking on Ibrahimovic triggering a 12-month extension to his contract and remaining at Old Trafford next season.

But this is not expected to happen now, with Mourinho instead turning his attentions to signing a top class replacement.

Mourinho is not expected to wait for Ibrahimovic, who will be 36 by the time he is fit to play again.

United have targeted Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann, but will now step up their bid to beat Chelsea to the signing of Everton's Romelu Lukaku.

Tottenham's Harry Kane remains a long-term target of Mourinho's, but United bosses reckon he will not be sold this summer and that Lukaku is a more realistic option.
