Mourinho casts doubt on Chelsea's ability to cope with dual silverware chase

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho feels his squad is too stretched for a successful tilt at both the Premiership title and the Champions League. "It depends what you mean by 'cope with'. If you ask me can we go all the way in Champions League and Premier League, I think it's very difficult.

"Our squad is quite short. On top of that, two of our players can't play in the Champions League because they are cup tied. So I don't think we have a huge squad in terms of numbers and experience to cope. It depends on what you mean by cope.

"To play and do our best, make the quarter-finals, yes. We have to cope with 20 top players ready to change from match to match, making six changes maybe after a Champions League game, we don't have that."

He added: "I would prefer the destiny in my hands and the destiny of the league is only in the hands of the team who, if they win every game will be champions, and that is not us.

"We are ahead of schedule. Lots of work, lots of sweat and the players deserve the points they have."
