Mourinho blasts claims of Real Madrid rift over Portugal job

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho denies falling out with his board over the Portugal job.

Mourinho claimed that his words had been taken out of context, and that his source of discontent was the actions of the FPF, not Real Madrid.

He said: "The Portuguese journalist told me that there had been no meeting between Real Madrid and Portugal, and I have said that I do not understand why there has not been a meeting.

"[Madrid general director Jorge] Valdano also told me that Portugal had not requested any meeting, and what I meant was that if the FPF were in Madrid, then why not ask for one. The question was badly done, and there is no story. I do not understand why there has been no meeting.

"I am honest and admit that I'm sad about not being able to lead Portugal, but have no right to ask of anything from Madrid. It is a difficult situation."
