Mourinho battling furious Real Madrid players revolt over tactics

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is facing a players' revolt after back-to-back defeats. Losses to Barcelona in the Champions League and Real Zaragoza in the Liga sandwiched a dressing room protest from Real players on Friday, says El Pais.

It's claimed Real players voiced their opinion of Mourinho's tactics before training on Friday morning. It began with some quietly criticising before turning into a full on shouting match, with cries of "this is a shame!", "this is not Real Madrid!" and "we look useless!" being heard outside the locker room.

When coaches Aitor Karanka and Rui Faria entered the change-room, the players quickly piped down. It's understood none of the players feel they can confide in Mourinho's coaching staff about criticisms of his tactics as they regard them as 'spies' for the Special One.

It's also suggested Cristiano Ronaldo was indeed dropped for the defeat to Zaragoza after being critical of the tactics against Barca. Real GM Jorge Valdano insisted yesterday that Ronaldo had been "rested".

One Real employee said of the Portuguese pair: "These two have egos so large that the wound will not close easily ..."
