Mourinho backs Premiership global plans

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has backed the Premiership's global plans - but believes they should begin with baby steps.

Mourinho said: "I'm so much in love with the English game and the Premiership, where I was for three years, that if I was in a position where I had to say 'yes' or 'no' I would say play every game in the Premiership in England.

"But if you want to go abroad, why not the Community Shield in New York or the Carling Cup final in Tokyo or Seoul or wherever?"

Mourinho's first English trophy success was lifting the Carling Cup with Chelsea in 2005. He said: "Football is special and is culturally and socially an incredible phenomenon.

"But, at the same time, it is also an industry and an investment. We are speaking about euros, dollars and pounds."
