Jose Mourinho felt Antonio Conte did his utmost to bring humiliation onto Manchester United late in Chelsea's 4-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The Blues dominated the Red Devils who imploded on Mourinho's return to the club who he won three Premier League titles with over two periods in West London.
The Portuguese spoke to the Italian at length after the game with some reports suggesting that Mourinho took offence to Conte asking for more encouragement from the home support.
Italian media indicates Mourinho said: "You don't celebrate like that at 4-0, you can do it at 1-0, otherwise it's humiliating for us."
Before adding at the post-match press conference: "I speak to Conte, I don't speak to you (the media)," Mourinho said.
"It was me and Antonio and stays with me and him. Unless he wants to share."
To which Conte responded via Sky Italia: "I've been a player too and I know how to behave.
"I always show great respect for everyone, including Manchester United.
"There was no incident, it was just a normal thing to do. I wasn't mocking anyone, I wouldn't do that."
Conte then added in his press conference: "Today it was right to call our fans in a moment (when) I was listening (to) only the supporters of Manchester United, at 4-0.
"The players, after a 4-0 win, deserved a great clap. It's very normal.
"If we want to cut the emotion we can go home and change our job."
First-half goals from Pedro and Gary Cahill preceded second-half tallies from Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante as Chelsea eased past United and into fourth position on the Premier League table.
