Mounting injuries forcing Liverpool to monitor players within games - Rodgers

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he was forced to manage his players' game time during the 1-1 draw with FC Sion in Europa League.

Due to mounting injury problems, Rodgers was forced to substitute Nathaniel Clyne at half-time and Danny Ings at the hour-mark in the anticipation of the Merseyside derby with Everton on Sunday.

Rodgers said: "We had a plan before the game that Nathaniel would play 45 and Alberto would play 45. We asked Danny Ings to play an hour.

"We've obviously got a number of injuries, hence the reason why we needed to protect one or two for this game.

"The only forced injury was obviously Kolo coming off, but with the rest that was the plan before the game."
