Motherwell manager Stuart McCall has all but ruled out the chance of James McFadden joining the club this summer.
The 29-year old forward has been given the opportunity to train with his former club after he was released by Everton at the end of last season but McCall has indicated that a deal is unlikely.
The fact the club cannot afford McFadden's services doubled with their need for defenders makes it a very doubtful scenario according to McCall.
"Unless he wants to play centre-half and play for nothing! Losing Clancy and Craigan, it's imperative we get a centre-back in.""We're allowing James to train which is good but there is very little chance of him joining us obviously," he told MFCTV.
