Stuart McCall believes Scott Brown has what it takes to really match it with the top players in the Champions League.
As Celtic prepare for Wednesday night's opening group stage with AC Milan at the San Siro, Motherwell boss McCall feels the stage is set for Hoops skipper Brown to take his game to the next level.
"Broony has that belief about himself. It's not arrogance, just a confidence in his ability to be able to play against the big names and teams," he told the Daily Record.
"You need that. There's no good going in fearing. And whoever Scott goes in against he won't have fear.
"Respect, yes - and that's a key element, whether they are top players or not. If you are going in thinking you're not their equal then you can be in trouble.
"If Scott's on top of his game, though, then he will be a match for anyone. I think that's the way he will look at it.
"Scott's strong-minded. He has come through quite a bit over the last year or so. The injuries have been hard on him.
"But now, touch wood, he's injury free and playing with real desire which he has shown for his country (Scotland) in recent games as well.
"When you're playing against better players that's when you really want to be at your best. That's when you test yourself."
