Motherwell defender Stevie Hammell insists that the club is not getting too far ahead of themselves regarding a potential third-place finish this season.
The Well sit nine points clear of fourth-placed St Johnstone and with second-placed Rangers' future in doubt, a runners-up position behind likely champions Celtic is still a probability.
But Hammell, who is close to agreeing a new deal at Fir Park, said the talk of clinching a Champions League qualifier spot, or better, has to be put on hold as the side goes about recording as many points as possible.
"If we can keep playing the way we have done lately we'll be okay."
He added: "I'm happy here and would love to stay. There have been talks between the club and my agent and hopefully we'll get things sorted.""We know we have a long way to go. There are still a number of teams in good form and on our tails," he said.
