Motherwell manager Stuart McCall says he would like to sign free agent Simon Ramsden.
The 30-year old defender/midfielder has been trialling with the Well after he finished up at Bradford City at the end of last season and his performances in recent pre-season matches suggest to McCall that he will be a good fit at Fir Park.
"We moved Simon into the middle of the park at the end on Tuesday (against Raith) and he can play right-back, centre-back and in there. He came through fine," McCall told the Daily Recordof the former Sunderland and Rochdale man.
"We still have to wait on decisions being made. I would think most clubs will be clearer by the end of the week the finances they'll have to play with.
"If I have the finances will I be looking to sign him? Possibly. He's not an out-and-out centre-half but he certainly ticks a lot of boxes and has experience.
"He's a good pro, talks well, has fitted in well and can play a few positions, like Tim could. Working with a small squad, that's the kind of players you're looking at.
"Hopefully he'll fit into our wage structure as well, so I'll have a chat with him - but we have to wait for clarification later this week."
