Motherwell confirm signing of ex-Newcastle Jets striker Jeffers

Scottish Premier League club Motherwell have clinched a deal with English striker Francis Jeffers.

The former Everton and Arsenal starlet, who most recently had a guest stint with the Newcastle Jets, has joined the Steelmen until the end of the season.

30-year old Jeffers returns to Scotland after his short stint with Glasgow giants Rangers back in 2005 and Motherwell boss Stuart McCall was delighted to welcome him to the club.

"Francis is an excellent player and someone we think will score goals in the Scottish Premier League," he said. "We hope Franny can get back to some of his early career form. There is absolutely no doubting his ability and in the conversations I've had with him, he seems really hungry for this challenge."

Jeffers, who has also played for Charlton Athletic, Blackburn Rovers, Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday, comes to Fir Park with the North Lanarkshire club sitting eighth on the SPL table.
