Motherwell boss not totally discounted Aberdeen move

Motherwell boss Craig Brown appears to have left the door open for a move to Aberdeen, despite insisting he would be staying at Fir Park. The former Scotland boss and his assistant Archie Knox met with Dons chairman Stewart Milne, chief executive Duncan Fraser and director of football Willie Miller on Tuesday to discuss the managerial position at Pittodrie, made vacant by Mark McGhee's departure last week.

Discussions did not reach the stage of a job being offered and Brown said he was happy to stay at Motherwell and called for the board to help him improve the squad.

However, Brown, who has been working without a contract since being appointed Well boss in December 2009, could yet make the move north, saying "everyone is entitled to change their mind".

Brown told the Press and Journal: "Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne phoned me back on Wednesday and asked if we would be prepared to reconsider our refusal to be a candidate for the job.

"Quite frankly, although we originally said no, after the very pleasant appeal from the Aberdeen chairman to reconsider our position, we will have another agonising sit-down and talk out of respect for a man who we both respect. With the chairman coming back to us everything is now up in the air, everyone is entitled to change their mind, so there could be a change of heart."
