Motherwell boss Craig Brown insists he has no concerns about kicking off their season in just over a fortnight's time. The Steelmen host Icelandic side Breidablik in the Europa League second qualifying round first leg on July 15, having returned for pre-season training on Monday.
Their opponents' domestic season is already under way, meaning they could have a physical edge over the Clydesdale Bank Premier League side, but Brown is not worried.
He said: "We are quite happy. It's a good pre-season preparation but we don't want it to be a pre-season preparation, we want it to be a successful venture in the Europa League.
"These games that we've got in Europe are better than friendlies, although we have arranged some good friendlies too.
"We have three games before the game in Europe and they are ideal preparation for the game in Iceland.
"They are playing and we will have them watched. It's difficult to get over because we have commitments here but we will certainly have a look at them.
"They have two matches next week so we will see them twice."
