Motherwell backtrack on reducing Old Firm ticket prices

Celtic fans are furious with Motherwell for going back on a promise to slash ticket prices for games involving the Old Firm, reports the Daily Mail. After a disastrous trial run against Rangers in November saw Motherwell lose £25,000 in ticket receipts, the club have now reverted to previous prices.

Celtic fans are now not impressed they will have to shell out £10 more than supporters of Rangers paid to visit the same ground two months ago.

"If you give your word in public then you should honour it," said Peter Rafferty of the Association of Celtic Supporters' Clubs.

"I can understand why our fans are frustrated, upset and annoyed about this. It's not acceptable to announce cuts then go straight back to previous prices.

"Motherwell should reconsider their decision. Otherwise John Boyle has just been spouting a lot of hot air. Club owners should be more careful about what they say in public. Watching football is too expensive in Scotland - and Celtic fans, along with Rangers supporters, have long paid more than fans of other clubs."

Chairman Boyle is on holiday and the club refused to comment.
