James Morrison admits he was out of order questioning West Bromwich Albion's ambition last month.

Morrison moaned Albion did not spend enough money and said they usually brought in foreign players he had never heard of.

The Scotland international, signed from Middlesbrough for £1.5million in August 2007, said: "It was heat of the moment and we had come off a bad result.

"It was out of frustration but it seemed to get players in. It was out of character but the players have come in so if we keep doing it, it is happy days.

"It has brought more competition to the squad. And yeah, I had heard of them, I have played against them many times.

"Keith (Downing) was on loan from Blackburn at Ipswich, where he had scored nine goals and has played international football. He is a great lad and fits in well with the team.

"Liam (Ridgewell) has played a lot of football in the Premier League with Birmingham and is a solid defender and also an English good lad.

"They have added a spark as when new players come into a new team they want to show what they can do and it drives other players on."
