Morison hoping to lose "worst ever" Norwich player tag

Norwich City forward Steve Morison scored his ninth goal of the season in the creditable 3-3 draw at Arsenal and sees that strike as a riposte to his critics. "Let's see how many people ring up 'Canary Call' today and say I'm the worst player to ever wear a Norwich shirt," the 28-year-old told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"It was great to score, it shuts a few people up."

Since January the 28-year-old has struggled for form and has been subject to increasing criticism from sections of the supporters.

"It's amazing the things a few people say and the stories they make up, I suppose they need something to talk about," Morison said.

"You hear the grumbles and your frustration might get the better of you sometimes and you get the hump with it, but as soon as you get back with the lads or with your family, that's it.

"I couldn't care less if I am the worst player in the team if I score plenty of goals. You want to score goals that pick up points, and [on Saturday] I managed that.

"All we wanted at the start of the season was to make sure we'd be coming back to places like the Emirates Stadium next season, and that was guaranteed a few weeks ago, so now we're looking to finish the season on a reasonable high."
