Marcelo Moreno's chances of signing outright for Wigan Athletic are in doubt.
The Mirror says the Bolivian striker is only on loan at Roberto Martinez's club and the decision whether to sign him permanently from Shakhtar Donetsk has yet to be made.
Martinez - who is scouring the globe for a new goalscorer - is waiting to make up his mind on the South American who has made a decent start but is yet to find the net.
The Latics chief said: "We are going to consider it, but it is a three-way conversation at the end of the season. First and foremost it's about how Marcelo feels and then Shakhtar."
There is a price of £6 million on Moreno's head if it becomes a full-time switch and Martinez is unlikely to pay that much. He added: "It's about finding a middle ground."
