AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes is set to undergo hand surgery.

Mexes will go under the knife to help heal a small fracture to his left hand.

The stopper picked up the injury on Thursday which ruled him out of a return to former club Roma on Saturday.

After tests, Milan have now opted to operate on the player in an effort to get him back into action as soon as possible.
