More Messi Barcelona doubts raised after local investment plans scrapped

More doubts over Lionel Messi's future with Barcelona are emerging.

While Barca directors insist a new deal has been agreed with the Argentine, the contract remains unsigned - and with no signing ceremony yet scheduled.

And it's now been revealed plans for Messi to invest in a local beach club have been walked back.

The Argentine was prepared to plough €500,000 into the bar, under the name Playa Padre. The investment plans had been running smoothly, until last month's independence controversy.

A source told El Espanol: "The player has decided to pull back his investment, the economic and social situation in the region is not the best, and opening such a place requires at least half a million before opening.

"It's not just Messi who has stopped his beach location, it's that nothing is moving in Catalonia, investments have stopped in their tracks."

Messi, while he regards Catalonia as his second home, does have concerns over the uncertainty of independence, particularly Barca's future in LaLiga.
