Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has been struck down by more injury woe.
Ferdinand is set to miss today's Manchester derby with a groin injury. United's England captain has been troubled with a series of injuries all season.
Ferdinand, 31, damaged his groin in the closing stages of the 0-0 draw at Blackburn Rovers on Sunday which severely dented United's title hopes.
It is the latest in a catalogue of problems believed to stem from back trouble which sidelined him for nearly three months earlier this season.
Ferdinand has made just 19 appearances in all competitions for his club this season - and his lack of match fitness will be a big worry for England boss Fabio Capello with the World Cup less than two months away.
