Arsenal signing Takuma Asano has been denied a UK work permit.

The Mirror says despite five caps to his name and an impressive series of performances for the Japanese Olympic team, he has not met the requirements to play in England.

The Gunners snapped up Asano after he struck 13 goals in 60 games for J-League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima.

Arsenal have taken just one point from their opening two games against Liverpool and Leicester.
