Mooy to depart St Mirren for Western Sydney

Australian U23 international Aaron Mooy is set to leave Scottish club St Mirren for the A-League's newest club, Western Sydney.

The 21-year old attacking midfielder has been with the Saints since departing Bolton Wanderers in 2010 but is now likely to head back home as one of the new clubs first signings.

"Danny spoke to Aaron at the end of the season and said he would not stand in his way if another club came in for him," St Mirren general manager Brian Caldwell told the Paisley Express.

"West Sydney have expressed an interest and we've been in touch with Aaron's agent and are now working towards a conclusion. Hopefully, everything should be finalised sometime next week.

"Aaron is at an age where he needs to be playing regular first-team football in order to help his development.

"A move back to Sydney will no doubt be a good thing for him and his career and we would like to wish him all the best."
