Montreal Impact kicked off their time in MLS with a record home crowd for soccer in Quebec this weekend.

The expansion franchise attracted 58,912 fans to the Olympic Stadium for their 1-1 draw with Chicago Fire on Saturday which was the first-ever MLS game in Montreal.

The atmosphere was electric according to those who were in attendance and Impact skipper Davy Arnaud, who scored his side's goal, was left raving about playing in front of such a big and passionate crowd.

"It was unbelievable," said Arnaud. "They say there is going to be 50,000 or 60,000, but until you're out there, you're in it and you can't hear each other, you don't realize how special it was.

"It was a special day for the club, I think one that everyone in the city will remember."

And Impact reserve keeper Greg Sutton went even further by suggesting that the Impact have the best fans in North America.

"I can't say I was surprised," said Sutton. "Some of these fans are some of the best in North America. They come out to support teams that are in the city of Montreal.

"It was fantastic. Hopefully, we can continue getting those fans every game and create something pretty cool here in Montreal."
