The number one draft pick in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft looks likely to be deployed as a forward by Montreal Impact.
The former Duke star, who won awards as a both a defender and an attacker in his sophomore and junior years, was taken with the first overall pick by the Impact and head coach Jesse Marsch is eyeing him in the final third in 2012.
"I like him as a forward," Marsch said. "When I watched him in college, I thought that was something he was good at. So we're taking a look at it now, and I thought he had a good last 30 minutes of the game (against Portland Timbers on Friday)."
Although Wenger admits he did not perform brilliantly in that pre-season hit-out, he is looking to be played an attacking position.
"Still trying things out - they tell me where to play and I play there. But hopefully it'll be more of an attacking position somewhere along the front six.""Obviously it wasn't the best 45 minutes of soccer for me that I've ever played. But the level's high, I'm happy to get it out of the way and move forward," he said.
