Montreal Impact's Mallace buzzing to be playing on same pitch as Henry, Beckham, Keane

Montreal Impact midfielder Callum Mallace says it is a big thrill to think about being on the same pitch as Major League Soccer's superstars.

The 22-year old Scottish-born Mallace was left on the bench as the Impact lost to New York Red Bulls last weekend with former Arsenal ace Thierry Henry netting a hat-trick but he is hoping to get some game time when the Canadian expansion franchise take on the LA Galaxy next month before taking on former Scottish Premier League star Kris Boyd.

"The whole experience is exciting for me. It probably hasn't hit me just yet that I'm lining up alongside some of these guys," said Mallace who says he would still like to play in his homeland.

"Seeing Henry at close quarters was great and I'm looking forward to us facing LA Galaxy with David Beckham and Robbie Keane next month.

"We also play Portland Timbers this month so I'll see Kris Boyd in action.

"I've a degree in broadcasting but all my energy now is focused on my football dream.

"I know people in Scotland won't know anything about me but I wouldn't rule out playing in Scotland. Plenty of players have made that sort of move."
