Montreal Impact head coach Marco Schallibaum and Toronto FC defender Richard Eckersley clashed after the weekend's match at the Olympic Stadium.
The Impact continued their flawless beginning to the season with a third win from as many outings, winning 2-1 at home, but the clash was marred by a scuffle involving the aforementioned pair who had to be separated by TFC boss Ryan Nelsen.
Schallibaum refused to name the player he had troubles with during the match but explained his reasons for becoming tangled in the scrap.
"That's okay. I spoke to him. I'm a person that respects all the rules," Schallibaum said when quizzed on the incident. "He said something to me one time, two times, and that's not good.
"Who was it? That's okay. I spoke with him. It's OK. No problem."
Eckersley clarified that he was simply trying to find out why Schallibaum had hidden the ball from a TFC player when attempting to take a throw-in.
"He's disrespecting the players and disrespecting the play by hiding the ball from a player," Eckersley said.
During the match, Patrice Bernier netted a 34th-minute penalty before Marco Di Vaio added a second Montreal goal prior to Robert Earnshaw's 68th-minute penalty which gave Toronto some late hope but in the end wasn't enough.
