Montpellier reveal Arsenal, Barcelona interest for Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa

Arsenal are chasing Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.

The Daily Mail says Barcelona and Bayern Munich have also shown interest in the 6ft stopper but Wenger is hoping to use his French connections to seal a deal for Yanga-Mbiwa who has been ever-present for Montpellier this season.

The African-born defender can play anywhere in defence, although has prominently featured at right-back.

Montpellier president Louis Nicollin has admitted that the defender could be set for a move.

He told reporters: "Yanga-Mbiwa will only leave for a big club - Arsenal, Barcelona or Bayern Munich."
