AC Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivo insists they deserved something out of their derby defeat to Inter Milan.

Montolivo insists “Milan deserved to win" the derby after a 1-0 defeat to city rivals Inter.

“If there was one team that deserved to win tonight considering the chances created, it was Milan," Montolivo told Mediaset Premium.

“It was a balanced encounter, so we are left disappointed and have regrets, but at the same time gain confidence for the future.

“Too often we tried to push the moves forward and were too frenetic. When both teams force it, they get stretched out and this is certainly something we have to improve."
