Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella refused to seek excuses after their defeat to Napoli.

The Partenopei earned a 2-1 victory in Florence, but Juan Cuadrado was sent off in stoppages for simulation when he should've been awarded a penalty.

"It's a shame, but if we just focus on one incident then we ignore a great performance from Fiorentina," Montella told Sky Sport Italia.

"I am extremely satisfied with the way we played, the fact we pinned Napoli back and forced them to focus only on counter-attacks.

"We knew they were good at counters and they were better than us in those instances. We didn't make mistakes as such and must credit our opponents with their talents.

"I told the team they mustn't act like victims, but instead realise this is the path we must keep going on in order to find success."
