Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella was pleased with their 1-0 win at Sassuolo.
Giuseppe Rossi struck late on to secure the three points.
"In the first half Sassuolo were more aggressive, but then the technique and quality of Fiorentina emerged," said Montella.
"Aside from the statistics, I can see that this team plays the same way, whether at home or away. I expected a dip in form at this stage after playing in Serie A and the Europa League, but it didn't happen. We never got the wrong approach.
"This means the side is made up of great men as well as great players. However, if we want to go further in the Europa League, then we need reinforcements."
