Monk wants Welsh stars to focus attention on Swansea

Swansea City boss Garry Monk has told his international contingent the time for celebrating their Euro2016 qualification is over as they switch their focus to Monday's Premier League clash with Stoke City.

The Welsh club will have at least six players representing their respective countries at next year's European Championships, with the likes of Ashley Williams, Neil Taylor, Lukasz Fabianski and Gylfi Sigurdsson all securing qualification last week.

While Monk said he is happy for his players who have been part of successful qualifying campaigns, he made it clear he now wants their focus to return to club football, especially the Welsh players who achieved qualification to a major tournament for the first time since 1958.

"It has been great for a number of our players of all different nationalities, it has been fantastic," Monk said.

"It is good for me though that it is done and dusted. It is a good thing for me as a manager of Swansea, I feel it is important they put it to bed now. They need to concentrate on their football here at the club.

"That is my message, I have spoken to them and they are fully aware of it."
