Monk: Swansea players immediately responded to Rodgers

Swansea City captain Garry Monk says the players have responded to manager Brendan Rodgers' work ethic.

Monk admits the former Chelsea coach lifted the players as soon as he arrived.

He told Absolute Radio: "Just brought a buzz back around the place and enthusiasm and professionalism as well. The boys picked straight up on that as well and I think it was a case of we wanted to work hard, you know, we didn't want to have days where it was all slack and no tempo and some days not even breaking the sweat.

"We wanted that back and I think the gaffer recognised that straight away and I think that was part of his method anyway, no matter what, and we just picked up on it and loved it from day one. The training sessions that we do are intense, short and sharp but really intense and we just love it.

"You're playing football and going from touching the ball maybe 100, 200 times to touching it four or 500 times in the training session is, it's a big difference, and I think it's just getting us back on track with the enthusiasm and obviously the professionalism of what we do, and I think we just all loved it from day one."
