Monk pushing his Swansea side to backup Welsh derby win

Swansea City boss Garry Monk is eager for his team to follow up their 3-0 Welsh derby win over Cardiff City on the weekend when they travel to Stoke City this week.

The Swans produced a dream start for Monk in his first game in charge and now the former club skipper is looking for a repeat performance at the Britannia Stadium on Wednesday to maintain momentum.

"Everyone talks about Stoke's style, but I think they've tweaked it," Monk said.

"They have been in this league a long time now, and we're under no illusions about how tough it is going to be.

"It isn't an easy place to go and they will want the points as much as we do. We have to build on Saturday's win and the players are focused and ready to go.

"But at the same time we can't look beyond the next game and think too far ahead."
