Monk proud of Swansea in Chelsea defeat

Swansea City boss Garry Monk was proud of his team in their 4-2 defeat at Chelsea.

Swansea took the lead before Diego Costa took over with a superb hat-trick.

"We played some very good stuff first half," Monk said.

"We should've really come in with a lead, disappointed to have conceded that goal just before half-time.

"Second half you saw the power and quality Chelsea had and we couldn't quite contain them in the second half, which is disappointing."

It was a match which pitted the manager of the month, Monk, against the player of the month, Costa.

"And he won," Monk added. "The whole (Chelsea) team is packed with world-class players that can cause damage to you at any time.

"We have to take that on the chin. We have to put it in perspective, but we'll always try to compete against whoever we play. It doesn't matter who they are. We did.

"Some of the football we've played was some of the best we've played against these type of teams."
