Monk confident as Swansea go into Sunderland clash in form

Swansea City's Garry Monk admits he is feeling good about the weekend's meeting with Sunderland.

The Welsh club produced a solid 3-0 victory over Everton in the third round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday which ended a two-game losing streak in the Premier League.

On Saturday, the Swans head to the Stadium of Light to take on the Black Cats and Monk hopes the midweek triumph over the Toffees has given them enough confidence to return to winning form in the league.

"The boys are at the same level we have been all season," said Monk.

"We've performed very well in all the games so far, and we're a group that is together and playing for one another.

"It's nice to go into Saturday's game after a win, because wins give you momentum. I think we are only going to get better from here.

"This weekend is a tricky game for us, but we have to go there with confidence and impose our game on them.

"We'll be aware of the quality they have and we'll have to start the game well.

"As we've proven already, everyone can beaten on their day."

Swansea currently sit fifth on the Premier League table with three wins and two losses while this weekend's opponents Sunderland are 17th without a win from their five fixtures thus far.
