Money at root of Redknapp Tottenham sacking

Harry Redknapp's axing from Tottenham was all down to money, it has been revealed.

The Mirror says Redknapp wanted more cash and a longer deal; chairman Daniel Levy was adamant that Redknapp had to produce the goods for the remaining year on his current deal and accept a one-year rolling contract based on performance and he was not prepared to back down.

There were other factors at play too, with the spectre of the England manager's job still lurking in the background.

Board members were not impressed that Redknapp launched his bid for a much-improved deal after a season that nose-dived spectacularly almost from the day in early February when he was cleared in court of tax offences and simultaneously Fabio Capello quit as England boss.
