Former Fiorentina coach Emiliano Mondonico has welcomed the capture of Mario Gomez.

The former Bayern Munich striker signed for the Viola earlier this month.

"I think Mario Gomez can do well. He is 25,000 people on his side, and because of that he'll do well," Mondonico told TuttoMercatoWeb.

"He almost has an obligation to the Florentine public."
