Djibril Sidibe admits he chose Monaco ahead of an offer from Arsenal.
The fullback joined ASM this summer from Lille.
"Monaco is one of the great French clubs," he told France Football. "Sportingly, their objectives are very interesting with the Champions League.
"I really hesitated with Arsenal, but in terms of playing time, I knew it would be very limited between 15 and 20 matches.
"And England, it's a risk.
"Many young players are left out there.
"So I told myself to do an extra year or two in Ligue 1, to take maximum provisions to ensure I evolve in the future."
