AS Monaco are chasing Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

The Evening Chronicle says reports emerged from France over the weekend about a possible £20m summer bid for the midfielder.

Monaco's Russian billionaire owner Dmitry Rybolovlev is willing to spend whatever it takes to get the club back to the top after some troubled years.

However, Newcastle don't need to sell, which puts them in a strong position to reject any bid for Cabaye - and anyone else for that matter - who has a contract until 2016.
