Monaco’s Nene wanted by trio of clubs including Everton

Everton have reportedly emerged as the club most likely to sign Monaco striker Nene.

Everton have reportedly emerged as the club most likely to sign Monaco striker Nene.

The 28-year old Brazilian is currently the top goalscorer in France’s Ligue 1 and is attracting interest from around Europe with Benfica and Galatasaray also jockeying for his signature.

Toffees boss David Moyes has had scouts monitor Nene since November and it is believed they are in a good position to bring him to Goodison Park although Monaco general manager Marc Keller said the club would 'make efforts to keep him'.

Nene himself said it would be a dream to play in the English Premier League.

"My mission to play and to offer the maximum on the field,” he said.

"These things feature perfectly to me and I do not discard the exit if an important offer arrives. Monaco are open to studying the subject, say the directors.

"England? For me it is the best league in Europe next to Spain. It would be a chance to fulfil a dream for me."
