Manchester United are moving for AS Monaco prospect Nampalys Mendy.

The 20 year-old defensive midfielder has decided to quit the new Ligue 1 club fearing their spending spree will leave him sidelined.

L'Equipe says United have moved quickly for Mendy, who comes off contract this month, and he is expected at their Carrington HQ in the coming days for talks.

United first spotted Mendy in the Toulon tournament last year and have monitored his situation over the past season.
