Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger remains in regular contact with the family of AS Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe.
Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool have all been credited with interest in securing Mbappe's services.
According to BBC journalist Marc Ashdown, the Arsenal gaffer has taken time to get to know Mbappe's family.
He tweeted: "Someone at the club told me Wenger is 'in with Mbappe's family' in a way not seen since Thierry [Henry]."
And, responding to an Arsenal fan's doubts about a potential switch, he said: "In honesty I'd be amazed given the figures. And RM [Real Madrid] sniffing around.
"Helluva statement if it did happen tho."
