Liverpool hero Jan Molby believes Jordan Henderson can be compared with Steven Gerrard.
Molby reckons the former Sunderland ace, 24, has matured enough to adequately fill the role when Gerrard quits to play for LA Galaxy in the MLS in the summer.
He told the Daily Star Sunday: "Jordan is the future of Liverpool - and the future is looking brighter every week.
"He has really responded to taking on the responsibility of being captain in the absence of Steven.
"Jordan had an indifferent start to the season where he wasn't sure of his role, and even ended up at right wing-back on occasion.
"But now he is where he is at his best playing the type of football that suits him, centrally and with a high tempo.
"I'm loathe to make the comparison but the goals Jordan scored last week were Stevie-esque. We've needed goals from midfield this season and now he is starting to chip in."
